Trip Info: Upper Canyon w/ Hike Out
2024 SEASON
Option #1: Start and End in Las Vegas, Nevada
Our most popular option. Book a bus through Arizona River Runners from Las Vegas to Marble Canyon, Arizona, on the first morning of your river trip. You will need to arrange lodging at the South Rim for the day you hike out and transportation back to Las Vegas. Plan your return to Las Vegas at least one day after your hike out.
One Day Before Your River Trip: Arrive in Las Vegas and stay the night. Lodging information is available here.
Day One: Meet the shuttle driver in the lobby of the designated hotel at 4:45 a.m. A few grab-and-go breakfast items will be available for all guests. It is important you are packed and ready to go so we can leave promptly. You should be dressed for the river and have only your river gear with you. All passengers will board our shuttle for a 5-hour, scenic bus ride with at least one rest stop. Once you arrive at the launch point, the guides will give an orientation, and you will repack your gear into the provided dry bags before heading down the river.
On The River: You’ll be traveling 89 river miles on your journey through the Grand Canyon. Each day, you will experience whitewater rapids and various side hikes.
Final Day: Early in the morning on the final day, you will reach river mile 89 and start your 8-mile hike out of the canyon on Bright Angel Trail. Please see the Hike Out section for more information about this hike. After hiking out, you should spend the night at the South Rim Village. You are responsible for making your own room reservations with Xanterra or call 888.297.2757. Rooms at the South Rim can be difficult to obtain, so please reserve early. Reservations open one year in advance. If lodging is unavailable in the park, you could stay in nearby Tusayan, Arizona.
